  Great to see alternative kit options today, thanks for the demo today Richard Nicol, Vivax Metrotech certainly feels strange not having an RD in my hands, but I'm very impressed by how good this kit is, certainly an option going forward.

  An interesting couple of days down at Fareham this week, working for the MKE Engineering Group.I also had the pleasure of bringing my old mate Steve Mellor in on this one, as we had a lot of ground to cover.Our brief was a cable fault under an expanse of water 190 metres wide, It's believed a Dredger had been through and picked the cable up. What we wasn't expecting was a second fault close to the supply end.This was confirmed with the EZ-Thump, at about 64 metres away in a wooded area.From the other side of the water we quickly confirmed a dead short of just a few ohms. Using our EZ-Thump and a Teleflex we found the broken cable end at approximately 140 metres.The Teleflex has been loaned to us from Alpha Electronics and Megger UK, courtesy of VP ESS, while we still wait the delivery of our STX 40. It was challenging tracing the cable route in places, what with trying to get signal to run past the first fault at one end and deep mud on the river bank at the other side.We only use Vivax Metrotech for our cable tracing, VLoc3-5000 and RTK Pro.The RTK Pro made light work of this, giving us an immediate plot on Google Earth, accurately showing our position and cable route, it also makes it quick and simple to provide the customer with the desired information they all want.Have a good rest over the Bank Holiday everyone and recharge your batteries ready for next week's challenges.Hopefully the phones won't ring over the weekend ? 🤣
