The CW Announces Programming for the 2024/2025 Season (2024)

The CW has announced its seven-night primetime programming schedule for the 2024/2025 season. The slate includes a host of unscripted programming and only four scripted series — one of which is .

Sullivan’s Crossing Season 2 is also part of the schedule, as are new dramas Joan, starring Sophie Turner, and The Librarians: The Next Chapter. The network’s lineup in the fall will also expand CW Sports with WWE NXT, Pac-12 college football, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series making their debuts on The CW.

Trivial Pursuit, hosted by LeVar Burton, and Scrabble, hosted by Raven-Symoné are the other new unscripted series coming to The CW during the season.

“The CW is currently enjoying three consecutive quarters of growth and we are looking forward to a fall schedule that is stronger than ever, starting with a brand-new game night featuring Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble—two games families have enjoyed for decades and hosted by fan-favorites LeVar Burton and Raven-Symoné.”

“We have new seasons of returning hit scripted series Sullivan’s Crossing and , whose final season is weekly can’t-miss event television. Our scripted lineup continues to grow with Joan, starring the brilliant Sophie Turner, and The Librarians: The Next Chapter,” Schwartz concluded.

This schedule leaves The CW to announce decisions on the following acquired, co-produced, or original programming: All American, All American: Homecoming, Children Ruin Everything, The Chosen, Family Law, FBoy Island, Masters of Illusion, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Lovers & Liars, Patti Stanger: The Matchmaker, Son of a Critch, Sight Unseen, Walker, and Wild Cards.

JOAN

Set in the 1980s, Joan stars Sophie Turner as Joan Hannington, “a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, but is trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary.” When the opportunity arises, Joan decides to make a better life for herself and her daughter by becoming a master jewel thief.

“Through her sharp intelligence, charm, and talent for impersonation and performance, we follow the twists and turns in Joan’s life, the ups and downs, the heartache, and the joy that makes this story so compelling to follow,” per the show’s synopsis.

Written by Anna Symon and directed by Richard Laxton, Joan stars Frank Dillane as Boisie, Kirsty J. Curtis as Nancy, Gershwyn Eustache Jr. as Albie, and Laura Aikman as Val.

Joan is produced by Snowed-In Productions and executive produced by Ruth Kenley-Letts, Jenny Van Der Lande, Neil Blair, and Richard Laxton. Joan has been commissioned for ITVX by Head of Drama Polly Hill. The series is produced in association with All3Media International and The CW Network.

THE LIBRARIANS: THE NEXT CHAPTER

The Librarians spinoff series follows Callum McGowan as Vikram Chamberlain, “a “Librarian” from the past, who time traveled to the present and now finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent,” per the synopsis.

To clean up this magical mess, Vikram is given a new team of Librarians.

The Librarians: The Next Chapter stars Jessica Green as Charlie Cornwall, the Guardian; Olivia Morris as Lysa Pascal, The Scientist and Bluey Robinson as Connor Green, the Historian.

Dean Devlin serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment. Noah Wyle is also an executive producer. Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English of Balkanic Media also produce.

SCRABBLE

Hosted by Raven-Symoné, Scrabble sees “wordsmiths battle it out over a series of addictive word games of skill and strategy to win points and master a giant Scrabble board in the center of the set.”

TRIVIAL PURSUIT

Hosted by LeVar Burton, Trivial Pursuit takes gameplay to a giant version of the iconic game board. Contestants battle it out to get to the center first. In the finale, the winner takes on the clock to claim the money prize.

The unscripted series is produced by Hasbro Entertainment, The CW, Lionsgate Alternative Television, and Talpa Studios. David Garfinkle, Gabriel Marano, John De Mol, Matt Walton, and Matt Pritchard serve as executive producers.
