  • A steamy cup of hot cocoa is the perfect pairing with all of those yummy treats. Making Starbucks hot chocolate at home, is a game changer. It's easy and the quick blending of flavor produces a luscious frothy drink that everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • We use either whole milk or 2% for this recipe. I do not recommend skim milk. When recipe testing, skim milk tasted a bit off for us. Milk provides an excellent base to a most aromatic hot chocolate.
  • Using low-fat half and half worked very well too. The half and half gives a nice depth of flavor to the beverage.
  • Use a good quality chocolate such as Ghirardelli for the amazing flavor.

Instructions

This is an overview of the recipe. The full instructions are below in the recipe card.

Step 1: Add all the ingredients into the vessel of the Instant Pot. Blend well and close the lid. Set for 5 minutes on High Pressure.

Step 2: Once the pot has finished cooking, allow the pot to do a natural release for 15 minutes.

Step 3: Then, carefully move the valve towards you to do a quick release. Use an oven mitt to move the valve as it will be hot. Remove the lid.

Step 4: Give the mix another good stir and the fun part is serving up the hot chocolate with your favorite toppings.

Storage

If you happen to have leftover hot chocolate, store it in the refrigerator in an airtight-covered container. Reheat in a microwavable safe bowl or cup for about 25 seconds, until warm enough to drink.

To reheat in a saucepan, reheat over medium-low heat until warm.

Cold weather brings on the need for comfort foods like fluffy buttermilk pancakes, pumpkin cinnamon rolls, and cast iron pineapple upside-down cake.
