My mom will never be able to tell the difference between Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Most moms have "fame blindness" (a term I just made up), meaning they're never able to correctly identify celebrities. Like, for some reason, all celebs look alike to them. So I showed my mom pictures of random famous people who often get mistaken for other celebs, and I had her tell me who she thinks they are. Here are the completely wrong and hilarious results.
1. My mom has seen every single episode of Modern Family. I showed her this picture of Sarah Hyland, who starred in nearly 250 episodes over 11 seasons, and she thought it was Mila Kunis.
2. Red-headed celebrities are super difficult for moms to tell apart. I showed my mom a picture of Bryce Dallas Howard, and she thought it was "the woman from Mad Men," aka Christina Hendricks.

3. I later showed my mom that same exact pic of Bryce Dallas Howard, to see if she learned her lesson, but she didn't. This time, she thought it was "the one from The Help," meaning Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain.

4. My mom has never seen Glee, so I don't even know why I bothered showing her a photo of Chord Overstreet. But, of course, she thought he was Oscar-nominee Austin Butler.

5. Coco Jones has five Grammy nominations and one win. I showed my mom a picture of her, and she thought it was EGOT-winner Jennifer Hudson.

6. My mom looked at a picture of Carey Mulligan for about 30 seconds before asking, "Oh, was she in the Steven Spielberg movie?" She was referring to Michelle Williams in The Fabelmans. Both are iconic, blonde, Oscar-nominated actors, but unfortunately they're entirely different people.

7. I then showed my mom a picture of Z*chary L*vi. She thought about it for a moment and then asked, "Is it Michael Scott?" She's never seen The Office, but I knew she wasn't referring to Steve Carell, so I asked her for more info. She said, "He's dating Emily Blunt." She was referring to John Krasinski, who's been married to Emily for about 15 years.

8. Do I think Eva Mendes and Eva Longoria look alike? No, absolutely not. Did my mom confuse them for each other because they both share the same first name? Yes, 100%.

9. My mom has never seen The Walking Dead, but she did watch The Good Wife, so she should have been familiar with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Instead, she thought he was "the one with Penélope Cruz," i.e. Javier Bardem.

10. Elizabeth Banks did guest-star on a few episodes of Modern Family, but she and Julie Bowen are two completely different people. Unfortunately my mom mistook them for each other.

11. I showed my mom a picture of Elijah Wood, and she instantly knew "for a fact" that it was "Harry Potter." Spoiler alert: She was wrong. Elijah Wood and Daniel Radcliffe do look a little similar, I guess, but she definitely mixed them up.
BBC America
12. Like most people in the early 2000s, my mom never missed an episode of American Idol. I showed her a picture of Jordin Sparks, and she thought it was Rosario Dawson. Suuuuuper far off, but I ~kind of~ see it in their smiles???

13. My mom has never seen Scrubs, so I guess that's why she couldn't recognize Zach Braff. Who did she think he was? "I think that's Kristen Bell's husband from Parenthood," aka Dax Shepard.

14. My mom was failing miserably, so I decided to be mean and trick her by pulling up an old photo of Joshua Jackson. She never watched Dawson's Creek, but she is a big fan of Meg Ryan (because she has taste!), so she thought this was her son, Jack Quaid. She didn't know what his name was, but she knew I loved his TV show, The Boys, so I guess that's how she figured it out.

15. Again, red-headed women are tough for moms! I showed her a photo of Isla Fisher, but my mom confidently thought it was Amy Adams. I don't even know how she got this wrong because she loves Amy Adams, and I ~just~ made her watch Junebug.

16. I love Matt Bomer. He was especially good in Fellow Travelers, a heartfelt, queer, and NSFW show my mom definitely didn't watch. He looks like a Ken doll who was sculpted in a lab, so I guess I understand why my mom thought he was Henry Cavill, another perfectly sculpted individual.

17. I also showed my mom a photo of Logan Marshall-Green. She instantly knew it was "that guy from the action movie I almost watched" with my dad. After asking a few questions, I realized she was talking about Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road.

18. Did I have any hope that my mom would be able to recognize Jaime Pressly? No, I didn't. I don't even know why I bothered trying. She clearly thought this was Margot Robbie.

19. And finally, I showed my mom a picture of Dwayne Johnson, and she foolishly thought it was The Rock. What an idiot.
